"...week-long courses with some of the best in the field. Classes are taught in small groups and, with a herbarium and library on site, you'll leave with amplified knowledge of plants and improved observational and illustrative skills."
The Shirley Sherwood Collection
Our students spend a full week observing & drawing wild plants in the hay meadows and wood pastures above Copşa Mare.
Spells of intensive study in our studio filled with northern light are balanced with field work in this farmed landscape full of flowering plants.
We place great emphasis on the botany, with students expected to identify their chosen specimen plant during their stay.
Our resident botanist Mihaela Sava is creating an illustrated grasslands herbarium for the school.
In addition to the Transylvania Florilegium, our botanical library holds numerous helpful books, such as the complete set of Stella Ross-Craig's Drawings of British Plants, an essential English-language reference for botanical artists striving for accuracy.
